You got Laser Hair Removal questions? We got answers!
You heard about Laser Hair Removal. You want to make sure it’s right for you before you say YES to it. Let us help you decide!
How does it work?
Most insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures. Consult your insurance carrier for conclusive information.
How do I get started?
You can book your first laser hair removal appt online thru our online booking system or give us a call at the spa number.
Do I have to pay in advance?
No. The online booking system will ask for your card information just to hold the reservation. After you finish the first treatment, our spa associate will ask you whether you want to pay-as-you-go per treatment OR buy a six-pack. You pay accordingly during checkout.
However, if you prefer, you can go ahead & purchase the six-pack thru our online system in advance, and it will be ready for use at the time of checkout after service.
Do I pay before or after the treatment?
You pay after your treatment. After each treatment, you can pay-as-you-go per treatment or you can decide to buy a six-pack and use a treatment from the six-pack towards the service that you just received.
Do I get a refund if I don't use all six treatments?
If you buy a package, any unused treatments are non-refundable for any reason. No exceptions whatsoever.
Does the six-pack expire?
When you buy a package, the treatments expire in 3 years. Usually, you’ll use all six treatments within 6 to 8 months. We believe 3 years is a long enough time to make sure your package is used up. We had a client go through a pregnancy, so she took a pause in the treatments, resumed the treatments after delivery, and still finished her laser hair removal in Orlando in a year and a half.
Do I have to pay if I am not a candidate for laser?
No. You will be asked to fill out our intake forms before your first treatment. The forms and consultation go thru contra-indications.
If you have any contraindications, you cannot receive laser hair removal. You will not be charged anything in that situation.
The price includes everything?
Two things are not included in the laser hair removal cost in Orlando.
One: if you need numbing cream, you can purchase it from outside or from our spa. It is a 5% Lidocaine topical numbing cream 1.35oz bottle for $20.
Two: gratuities for your technician. Recommended gratuity is $10 or more per treatment.
Can I get a refund if I don't see results?
Short answer is NO. Please read further below.
As with any elective cosmetic procedures, perceptions and results vary from client to client.
Most people need six to twelve treatments, some may need sixteen, and some even more.
We have most reasonable prices and best system that money can buy. We try our best to get you highest satisfaction.
However, we cannot process refund for services already rendered under any circumstances.
If I have leftover treatments in six-pack, can I gift or share with someone else?
You cannot. All treatments in a six-pack must be used by the same person.
Can I share the six-pack among areas of equal size?
You cannot. All treatments in six-pack must be used on the same area.
Is there a payment plan for six-pack? Can I pay in installments or on every visit?
You cannot. The six-pack treatment is extra discounted, so it requires full upfront nonrefundable payment.
I already received a few laser treatments. Can I get a discounted retouching price instead of the regular price for an area?
A retouching treatment is something somebody needs a few years down the line if they see some hair growth. We don’t do just retouching, because most likely if you have hair growth in an area, we need to do the whole area, so it is charged as a full regular service. There is no separate price lower price for retouching in any area.
Wow, you guys have upfront info & pricing! Why no FREE consultation & custom pricing after the consultation?
Because we don’t believe in baiting people in. With us, you can expect honest upfront pricing same for all. Honesty & integrity is essential part of our work culture at J Sterling’s.

Any other benefits of laser hair removal?
Can I get reduction instead of total hair removal?
Can I permanently shape hair growth on my beard or other body parts?
How does laser hair removal feel like?
Some guests may feel a slight discomfort with each laser pulse, sometimes described as the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort resolves quickly and is minimized by the patented Dynamic Cooling of our laser machine.
If you prefer to minimize your discomfort, please purchase topical anesthetic lotion “Lidocaine 4%”, and apply (at home or in our spacious restrooms) prior to the treatment. It is available over-the-counter at most pharmacies, does not need any prescription, and usually costs less than $10.
What can I expect during laser treatment?
Treatment will take place in the dedicated laser room at our med-spa. Your technician will use a small handpiece to deliver each laser pulse and remove unwanted hair. A treatment could take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the treatment areas and the condition being treated.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
For near-permanent hair removal, multiple treatments are required because laser pulse removes the hair roots that are in an active state. You need anywhere from 6 to 16 treatments for near-permanent and long-term hair removal. Most people need no more than 10 treatments.
How do I get started?
You can book your first laser hair removal appt online thru our online booking system or give us a call at the spa number.
Will I consult with a doctor at the spa?
In most situations, you won’t consult with our doctor at the spa. Your laser technician will consult with the doctor. The supervising doctor goes thru our client records and files via telemedicine and provides supervision to the laser technician. In very rare situations if it is decided by the doctor and technician that you need to be seen by the doctor, an appt will be set up for the same, and it will be informed to you.
Can I book an appt just for consultation instead of laser treatment?
Yes, you can make appt appt for virtual or in-person consultation. Come in clean-shaved for in-person consultation. We may be able to perform the first service after the consultation. OR do a virtual consultation by video conferencing on your phone from the comfort of your couch.
Are appointments available on evenings and weekends?
Yes. We do have evening and weekend appointments. Head over to online booking, and select a day and time that works best for you.
How long does it take for treatment?
Small area: 10 to 15 minutes
Medium area: 15 to 20 minutes
Large area: 15 to 25 minutes
XL area: 25 to 30 minutes
It saves you time if you get multiple areas done at the same time.
Is laser hair removal safe for darker skin tones?
Yes! Other laser hair removal treatments don’t cater to all skin types, but there’s a Gentle Hair Removal treatment that’s right for you, no matter what your skin tone. Your technician will customize the treatment to be right for you and your skin tone.
How do I prepare for my treatment?
For about four weeks prior to treatment, avoid waxing, or plucking..
For morning appts, clean shave the day before. For afternoon appts, clean shave in the morning. Give at least a few hours after shaving so that your skin is no irritated from the shaving when you arrive.
Thoroughly cleanse any makeup, creams, oils. Apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) before your treatment. Avoid expose the treatment area to sunlight prior to or immediately after treatment.
I cannot reach the area. How do I shave?
For hard-to-reach areas such as back, ask a family member for help. Or visit a barber shop.
Tip: For bikini area, use a handheld mirror to see hair growth.
If you arrive unshaved, we cannot perform the service, no matter what. Laser hair removal does not work on unshaved skin. In fact, it can damage the skin if someone performs laser on unshaved skin.
I have sensitive skin. Cannot shave. What do I do?
In rare situation, for highly sensitive skin, you can use a electronic trimmer without a guard for nearly similar result as shaving.
Please note that we may have to use less laser power to accommodate the trimmed instead of unshaved hair, resulting in more treatments required.
I had waxing done a few weeks before. Can I come for laser?
Waxing pulls out entire hair shaft from root. Laser requires hair shaft to work. So wait 4 weeks before scheduling laser appt, to give time for hair shaft to grow.
Do I need a doctor's note or clearance before LHR?
No, you do not need a doctor’s note. However, if you feel like it, you can consult with your doctor.
Are there any contra-indications for people to not get laser?

What can I expect after treatment?
A cool compress or gel pack may be applied for additional comfort after your treatment. Any redness or swelling should resolve in a few hours.
What precautions should I take after treatment?

Can I goto work after Laser treatment?
Yes, you can. There might be redness and some discomfort on the treated area for a day or two, but it should not cause work disruption in most cases.
How many weeks between treatments?
Will I see hair growth after treatment?
Remember you came clean shaved for treatment, so there were hair shafts hiding beneath the surface of your skin.
The hair follicles have been destroyed by laser, so those hair shafts will slowly pull up & shed away over next couple of weeks. It may look like you’re seeing hair growth, but it is actually hair shedding. Those small hair shafts will shed away in coming days. Now remember that all hair follicles are not active at all the time, they activate in cycles, that’s the whole reason you need multiple treatments. So while the laser-treated follicles are shedding, the previously inactive follicles are becoming active & growing hair. So over next few weeks, you will start seeing hair growth again from those follicles. So then you again clean shave, and arrive for your next treatment 4 to 6 weeks later, as directed by your laser technician. Also note that different areas on your skin react at different pace to the laser treatment. So you may see “patchy” hair growth, but it will all even-out and gone by the end of your treatment plan.
How does it work?
A beam of focused laser light is targeted on cleansed, cooled skin. The light is absorbed by the darker pigmented hair shaft, and gets converted to heat energy. The heat destroys the hair shaft & surrounding cells responsible for hair growth. Rest of the skin reflects most of the light energy, absorbing only a small portion, resulting in slight discomfort.
